Report Cards
Today was Report Card day. Students were given their report card at the end of the day and instructed to not open it until they get home. Mme Cote and myself talked to the class today about report cards and marks. We have asked students to please not share their marks with other students. We also mentioned that students should not get discouraged if their marks are different than last year. It is Immersion and we do move quickly. In addition, it can be difficult to relate a mark to the progress report since it simply says progress well, very well, or with difficulty. Progressing with difficulty means around a level 1 or a D, progressing well means a level 2-3 or a C-B, and progressing very well means a level 4 or an A. Mme. Cote and myself wanted to make sure that students and parents/guardians were aware of how they connect.
Class Book Study
Today, I distributed copies of the novel Holes by Louis Sachar for students to use during our study of the novel. The following note was also sent home with the novel.
We discussed as a class that these novels do not belong to the students (most of them are on loan from another school and some belong to Mrs. Addison or myself). These novels need to be returned in the same condition in which they were distributed.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
